Join us for Empowerment Week in celebration of Women’s HERstory Month! This week is all about Educate, Heal, Rebuild – a time to come together, learn, grow, and uplift each other. We’re offering a variety of amazing events designed to inspire and empower students, faculty, and staff alike. Best of all, these events are totally free and open to everyone! From powerful discussions to interactive workshops, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss out – come early to ensure you don’t miss any of the supplies or food (while they last)! Let’s celebrate HERstory, make lasting connections, and spark positive change together. We can’t wait to see you there!
Monday, March 24, 2025 – Sowing Seeds of Growth: How to Self-Advocate
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Location: Student Activities Center (SAC)
Event Overview:
Join us for a panel discussion featuring past Institute for Women’s Leadership (IWL) cohort members and alumni discussing self-advocacy as students, leaders, and women in various fields. Participants will paint and pot plants while engaging in the discussion, symbolizing self-growth and empowerment. FREE Pizza served. (While supplies last)

Tuesday, March 25, 2025 – Pampering and Pastries
Time: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Location: Student Activities Center (SAC)
Event Overview:
Join us for pampering and pastries where participants will learn from the student organization Douglass D.I.V.A.S. on how to make your own hair oils, body scrubs etc.! Participants will also have the opportunity to get a free chair massage with RU Recreation! Pastries will be served! Get ready for the ultimate pamper party! (While supplies last)
Thursday, March 27, 2025 – Dr. Jewel Plummer Cobb S.T.E.A.M. Empowerment Awards Luncheon
Time: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
Location: Douglass Student Center, Trayles Hall
Event Overview:
The S.T.E.A.M. Awards will be awarded to members within the community who have gone above and beyond to create support for women within S.T.E.A.M. disciplines. The five awards will be awarded to students, faculty, and staff at the Dr. Jewel Plummer Cobb S.T.E.A.M. Women’s Empowerment Luncheon on Thursday, March 27, 2025 in Douglass Student Center, Trayes Hall. *These Awards are open to all who meet the applicable criteria, regardless of sex or gender identity.
Friday, March 28, 2025 – Poetry Workshop
Time: 3:30PM – 5:00 PM

Event Overview:
Poetry workshop hosted by Verbal Mayhem Poetry Collective, centered on writing techniques for empowering women voices.
Monday, March 31, 2025 – Know Your Rights Presentation
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

Event Overview:
Join us for a virtual discussion with Kai Durant from the Community Relations Unit, Division of Civil Rights as she educates us on our rights and strategies for self-advocacy.
